Laime confronts a lost season on new EP “State Of Emergency”

Laime is revisiting a lost chapter with his new three-track EP, State Of Emergency (Summer That Never Happened). A reflective sequel to his 2021 project If Summer Happened, the EP explores the pandemic’s lingering impact through the lens of lived experience and current economic tensions.

The project opens with the urgent track “For Here,” where the Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste directly confronts Nigeria’s inflation with the poignant line, “Tin tomato don turn one thousand.” This raw commentary on daily struggles is contrasted by the defiant luxury of “Wire,” a collaboration with Liya and Savage that channels confidence and escape without forgetting the grind.

The EP concludes with the hopeful and sincere “Wida You,” a declaration of commitment and a refusal to play games.

Across the three tracks, Laime crafts a narrative that moves from hardship to defiance and finally to hope.

State Of Emergency serves as a sharp, mature answer to a four-year-old question, capturing a mood of resilience in the face of a summer that never was and the realities that followed.

The EP is now available on all streaming platforms.
