Quentin Tarantino reveals why he cancelled his final film

Quentin Tarantino has finally revealed the reasoning behind his decision to “pull the plug” on what was slated to be his 10th and final film, “The Movie Critic,” per nme.com. The project, which had been in development for over a year, was reportedly scrapped after the acclaimed director had a change of heart.

Speaking on The Church of Tarantino podcast, the two-time Oscar winner admitted that while he was initially happy with the script, his excitement waned as pre-production began. “Who wants to see a movie called The Movie Critic?” he questioned, explaining that the title lacked the captivating promise of his previous work.

Tarantino described the concept as a personal challenge: to make a film about a “boring profession” interesting.

However, he ultimately felt the idea wasn’t strong enough to be his grand finale. “Every Tarantino title promises so much, except The Movie Critic,” he said.

He also debunked persistent rumours that Brad Pitt’s character, Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, would feature in the new film. Tarantino clarified that while the two projects share the same “spiritual” world and setting, there were “no crossover characters.”

With “The Movie Critic” shelved, fans are now eagerly awaiting news on what his final cinematic masterpiece will be.
