The stars were back Tuesday night for the Golden Globes’ return to television, walking the red carpet that was stained in places, no thanks to the weather that has left one helf of Los Angeles flooded and the other, flooded.
But there were no dull moments at the awards that returned to make a statement after an ethics and voting scandal when the ceremony was held last year.
The jury may still be out on whether the organisers succeeded in putting that behind the show, but what won the night were the winners of the converted Golden Globes that include Austin Butler from Elvis, Colin Farrell from The Banshees of Inisherin and Angela Bassett from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Also, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan won awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once.
On the TV side, Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams won for their work on Abbott Elementary, which scored best TV comedy, and Jeremy Allen White was named best actor in a comedy for leading The Bear. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio was the best animated movie, Steven Spielberg won best directing honours for The Fabelmans and Zendaya won for best actress in a TV drama series for Euphoria.
Kevin Costner, star of Yellowstone, won best actor for a drama series. Yellowstone is co-created by Taylor Sheridan, a Weatherford resident.
