German artist Wolfgang Tillmans is in Lagos for an exhibition titled “Fragile!”
According to an invitation from Goethe Institut Nigeria, the exhibition will open by 5 pm Friday 27 May at Art Twenty One, Eko Hotel.
“This is to kindly remind you of our forthcoming art and photography exhibition “Fragile” with the German artist Wolfgang Tillmans,” said the email reminder from Goethe Institut Nigeria on Thursday.
Tillmans will be in conversation with Nigerian artist, Papa Omotayo, from A Whitespace Creative Agency by 6:30 pm on the same day at the same venue.
The next day at 5 pm the Opening party for the exhibition will hold at the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) Lagos.
Following on stops in Kinshasa, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Yaoundé Accra and Abidjan, the touring exhibition Fragile! is showing works by the world-famous German artist. The work of Wolfgang Tillmans occupies a prominent position in the contemporary art world. Ever since his first exhibitions and publications in the early 1990s Tillmans’s artistic approaches have continually developed. He is constantly redefining photography both as an image and as a material artefact, be it in the museum space or as an object on the printed page.
