Robi Reed, a top casting director in the film and television industry, is the first African American to win an Emmy as a casting director and producer.
Robi Reed, a Hampton University graduate, has over 30 years of experience and is known for her casting of major movies that gave Halle Berry, Samuel Jackson, and Jamie Foxx their big break.
Reed started off working with director, Spike Lee, leading to her first movie as casting director of “School Daze.”
Reed is most known for her casting in the films “Malcom X”, “Do the Right Thing,” and “Girlfriends.”
She has served as a casting director of many other movies with her recent role as a casting director of “The Bobby Brown Story.”
Reed made history as the first African American to win an Emmy award for her 1997 work in casting HBO’s, “The Tuskegee Airmen.”
Robi Reed is currently serving as BET’s Vice President of Talent and Casting.
