The acoustic version of the track is no where near the original. It seats on a tempered, chilled-out score by the guitar maestro Femi Leye and plays to your R&B core.
This version enlists the magic fingers of guitarist Femi Leye whose infectious score closed out the original version of the song.
The video, directed by Dalia Dias, and shot on a Lagos Island beach doesn’t do justice to the mood that the smooth accoustic rendition labours to create. A simple seat-down in a studio setting or on a street edge would have done just as well.
But a calm water scene with a boat guide who is trying desperatly to act casual works too.
At least for the number of people who have viewed the video since it dropped.
Reekado’s vocals are gold. He is still one of the few artistes from this mime generation who can still hold a note.
