Group under the auspices Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) on Wednesday launched four internet based book projects to mark this year’s World Book Day.
The book projects are; World Book Day, National Book Awareness Week, African Book Week and the Children’s Book Week. All blogs contained concise review of renowned books collated from around the world written by famous dead and living writers.
This was contained in a statement issued by the President of the Society, Wole Adedoyin, in Ibadan on Wednesday.
According to the statement, “the National Book Awareness Week (NABAWK) is an internet based literary project aim at promoting only Nigerian literary books. NABAWK showcased only old Nigerian literary books which people have forgotten, refreshing and bringing back their memories of such books.
The World Book Day showcased bestselling books across the world. The African Book Week on the other hand showcased African literary books written by renowned African writers, dead and living. While the Children’s Book Week showcased reviews of notable children’s books.”
The four internet based projects which contained reviews of popular books also featured historical details, characters, themes and other features readers need to know about books.
The Projects featured over 400 works of creative writers like Daniel O. Fagunwa, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Femi Osofisan, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Nurudin Farah, Ola Rotimi, Ken Saro-Wiwa, Cyprian Ekwensi, Buchi Emecheta, Elechi Amadi, Ben Okri, Wale Okediran, Bayo Adebowale, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Adams Ibrahim, T.M Aluko, Ngugi Wa thingo, Nadine Gordimer, Ayi Kwei Amah, George Orwell, Zulu Sofola, Flora Nwapa to mention but few.
