UMI teases “Talking to the wind” EP with new track “why don’t we go”

UMI has just unveiled her latest musical creation, “why don’t we go,” accompanied by an official visualizer to captivate her audience.

The song, characterised by its flirtatious vibes, according to Rated R&B, takes listeners on an alluring journey as UMI delves into the enticing narrative of a new autumn romance, where inhibitions are left behind. With lyrics like “I met you on a Sunday / And made love on a Monday, see / Think back it was a fun day / I wouldn’t want it any other way,” UMI paints a vivid picture of youthful spontaneity and carefree living.

In her own words, UMI describes the track as an invitation to savour one’s eternal youth, to embrace playfulness, and to live life without overthinking. “Why don’t we go” is her call to both herself and her partner to let go and bask in the joy of the moment, even if it’s just for a single night.

Accompanying the release is the official artwork for her upcoming EP, “talking to the wind,” which promises to reveal a more confident side of UMI as she fully immerses herself in love, life, and the beauty of feeling lost in the world. The EP, scheduled for January 19, 2024, marks her first independent project following her debut album, “Forest in the City,” which was released in 2022 under Keep Cool/RCA Records.

Forest in the City was a guest-less album that included standout tracks like “Moonlit Room” and “Sorry.” The latter served as the apologetic lead single and was produced by 1Mind, Reske, and Aldae.

UMI, who previously embarked on a successful tour for Forest in the City in 2022, is now set to support Jhené Aiko’s headlining show at Oakland Arena on December 2, 2023, with special guests Coco Jones and Tink. The show is scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. PT, and tickets can be obtained via ticketmaster.com.

Before her Oakland appearance, UMI will return to Lune Souleil in Los Angeles to host two meditation sessions on November 27, at 7 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. PT. These sessions, featuring group breathing exercises and the soothing sounds of a sound bowl, offer a unique opportunity for fans to connect with the artist. To participate, visit lunesouleil.com.
