Shania Twain congratulates Taylor Swift for beating her country charts record

Country superstar, Shania Twain, 56, has congratulated Taylor Swift, 32, on dethroning her as the female artist with the most weeks (99) at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, surpassing Twain’s 97-week record.

Leading People to report that Twain is passing the baton to Swift.

“Let’s Go Girls!!!! Proud of you @taylorswift13. Historical records are meant to be made and then broken. The baton is meant to be passed on to new generations. Unstoppable young female country artists are [fire emoji] in spite of the hurdles,” she wrote, adding the hashtag, “#trailblazers.”

Swift still has a ways to go in order to beat Garth Brooks’ all-time record of 169 weeks, which is followed by Alabama with 125 and Willie Nelson with 106.

According to Forbes, Taylor Swift claimed four of the 10 bestselling albums in the U.S. in 2021, standing out as someone who can get her massive fan base to purchase more than one collection in a relatively short span of time. The pop and country powerhouse comes in right behind Adele with her most recent project, Red (Taylor’s Version), which was purchased by 621,000 fans.
