Reactions as Ifeanyi, Davido’s son, dies

Son of popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke aka Davido and his partner, Chioma, is dead.

An Instagram post by ace comedian, Ayo Makun, populary known as AY confirmed in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to information gathered, the young lad who just celebrated his third birthday was said to have drowned in a swimming pool on Monday night.

Ifeanyi was pronounced dead at the Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi upon arrival.

It was said that young Ifeanyi drowned in the family pool and was underwater for a while before he was discovered and rushed to the hospital.

Makun wrote in the post, “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair and tragic. This hits me so bad.”

Apart from AY, a source close to the family revealed that the three-year-old drowned in a private swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos on Friday.

“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital. By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late,” confirmed the source.

Ifeanyi Adeleke was born on October 20, 2019 to Davido and his fiancee Chioma Rowland. He celebrated his third birthday recently.

His death comes four years after another artiste D’banj lost his son, who similarly drowned in the family’s swimming pool.

The reported death of Ifeanyi has been trending on Twitter since the early hours of Tuesday. The music star hasn’t reacted as at the time of filing this report.

Details of the circumstances surrounding Ifeanyi’s death were still sketchy as of the time of writing beside unconfirmed reports  that Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at David’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State. Punch, in it’s report, quoted a number of celebrities who have posted cryptic messages that appear to confirm the death of Ifeanyi. Some of which are comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, radio personality Daddy Freeze among others

Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning said, “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight.”

Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”

Reality TV star and actress, Rosemary Afuwape, said on her Instagram story, “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your hearts. I am truly sorry for your loss.”
