Maandy channels Nairobi street energy on new single ‘Hainaga Mambo’

Maandy has released “Hainaga Mambo,” a new single that is a lighter turn in the Kenyan rapper’s sound while retaining the self-reliant ethos that has defined her career in Nairobi’s hip-hop and Gengetone scenes.

Born Amanda Mitchelle Wambui, Maandy built her profile through an association with Nairobi’s street culture, earning the moniker Manzi wa Nairobi.

The single, distributed via ONErpm, centres on the Swahili phrase “hainaga mambo,” loosely meaning “no problems, no pressure,” which she repeats as both hook and philosophy, framing a night out with friends as an antidote to stress.

The track does not abandon her signature themes entirely. Alongside its celebratory tone, she addresses financial ambition and personal faith, grounding the release in the hustle-driven worldview her audience recognises.

“Sometimes you just have to let go, enjoy where you are, and stop carrying everything on your head,” she said. “That’s the energy behind this song.”

“Hainaga Mambo” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
