Kenneth Mitchell passes away at 49 after ALS battle

Kenneth Mitchell, renowned for his roles in Star Trek: Discovery and Captain Marvel, has tragically passed away at the age of 49, succumbing to a five-year struggle with ALS, per pagesix.com.

In a poignant statement shared via X and Instagram on Sunday, Mitchell’s family confirmed the heartbreaking news, paying tribute to the cherished actor as a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend, the outlet further stated.

Renowned for his versatility, Mitchell portrayed a spectrum of characters, from an Olympic hopeful to a superhero’s father and four distinct Star Trek personas. However, his family emphasised that Mitchell’s most cherished role was that of a loving family man, devoted to his wife, Susan, and their two children, Lilah and Kallum.

Despite his battle with ALS, Mitchell remained steadfast in his commitment to his family, epitomising dedication and love as a father. His family expressed enduring pride in the individuals his children have become.

Diagnosed with ALS in 2018, Mitchell bravely confronted the challenges of the progressive neurodegenerative disease alongside his wife, Susan. Reflecting on the diagnosis, Mitchell shared with People magazine the profound impact it had on their lives, underscoring the strength found in their shared journey.
