‘In Bloom’ short film anthology tackles gender issues

In honour of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, a powerful collaboration presents “In Bloom,” a collection of short films highlighting gender equity.

Spearheaded by MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Paramount Global and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, according to an Instagram post, the anthology features the creative vision of emerging female filmmakers from Nigeria, Kenya, India, the US and Brazil.

Addressing critical issues such as period poverty, child marriage, gender-based violence, HIV self-stigma, family planning and women’s economic empowerment, “In Bloom” promises to spark crucial conversations worldwide. The anthology, produced by Arij Al-Soltan and creatively led by Tope Oshin, boasts a diverse lineup of talent including Lowladee Adeleke, Voline Ogutu, Priyanka Banerjee, Nicole Teeny and Giuliana Monteiro.

Premiering today, Friday, March 1 on Paramount+ across multiple countries including the US, UK, Canada and Australia, “In Bloom” will also be available on Pluto TV globally. Additionally, the anthology will air on MTV international linear channels before its International Women’s Day debut on BET in Africa. Following its television premiere, “In Bloom” will be accessible on YouTube in India and Africa, further extending its reach and impact.
