House Of Reps Endorse ‘The Good Husband’, A Movie From Award Winning Director, Dickson Iroegbu

In a move to promote his soon-to-be-released film ‘The Good Husband’, Nigeria’s award-winning director, Mr. Dickson Iroegbu, paid a courtesy call to the house leader, Honourable Alhassan Doguwa recently at the National assembly complex in Abuja.

Mr. Iroegbu, who was well received by the house leader along with other honourable members of the house, explained his visit to the house leader who sat attentive to the subject matter. Mr. Iroegbu spoke to the house members on the timeliness of the challenges of this pragmatic subject of marriage which people quickly shy away from.

In his address, Mr. Iroegbu informs the house on the objectives behind the movie, explaining that “The family is one of the basic cells of our existence. It is also the thing that defines us as individuals. In it, we learn equality, responsibility, solidarity. It is the most fragile and vulnerable part of an individual’s life but at the same time, the strongest support and a safe refuge.”

Furthermore, “‘ The Good Husband’ is a timely tale in today’s Nigeria where divorce and sometimes spousal murder is assuming alarming proportions. It explores themes of sex, communication, the rigours of different perspectives of couples and respective relatives, as well as issues of love and forgiveness.” Iroegbu says.

The movie which explores the challenges that come with marriages will hit the cinemas in Nigeria from the seventeenth of April. The film promises to thrill the anxious audience as they wait patiently for the release date and is produced and directed by multiple award-winning filmmaker Dickson Iroegbu.

The house leader, Honourable Alhassan Doguwa acknowledged the importance of supporting the entertainment industry and this movie especially, stating, “There is a lot of established research about the positive influences from drama, theatre and the performing arts, especially on young people. The benefits are physical, emotional, and social. They help to develop a healthy appreciation of culture and the arts.” He concluded.

This film boasts of some of Nigeria’s best and brightest movie exports such as Sam Dede, Monalisa Chinda, Francis Duru, Thelma Okoduwa-Ojiji, Paul Sambo, Bassey Ekpo Bassey, and introducing Eeefy Ike and Shield Nwazuruahu and several others.

Mr. Iroegbu has produced and directed over twenty blockbuster movies. He has revolutionized the Nigerian film industry with several of his film such as, ‘Women’s Cot’, ‘Critical Condition’, ‘Unfaithful’, ‘Romantic Attraction’ and ‘The Mayors’, which earned him Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director at African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.
