Felebration is about a month away and we are prepped and ready for this year’s edition.
Felabration is an annual festival of music and arts commemorating the life and times of Nigerian’s foremost musical icon, the late great Fela Anikulakpo Kuti.
Felabration was conceived in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti in celebration of her father’s posthumous birthday. Her father, Fela Kuti, was a Nigerian musician and human rights activist known for pioneering Afrobeat music and being a vocal social commentator against the polity at the time.
The week-long event which holds annually at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, attracts visitors from different countries and has been considered as an official tourist destination by the Lagos State Government.
This year’s edition tagged ‘from Lagos with love’ will kick off from Monday the 14th of October to Sunday the 20th of October 2019.
