CHAY releases Afrobeats-EDM single ‘Nwa Mama’

Nigerian singer-songwriter CHAY, born Nonyelum Uche, has released his new single “Nwa Mama”, a track that fuses Afrobeats with EDM elements and draws on a mix of Pidgin, English and Igbo across its lyrics.

The song opens with percussion and layered harmonies underpinning a melodic groove. CHAY’s delivery is notably restrained, the artist allows the production to carry much of the track’s energy rather than crowding the verses. The recurring phrase “Nwa Mama” functions as a refrain, anchoring a theme of striving and incremental celebration.

The song addresses ambition without reducing it to material acquisition, situating itself within a tradition of West African popular music that draws on communal aspiration.

“I made this record for the dreamers who keep going even when the road feels long,” CHAY said. “Nwa Mama is my way of saying keep pushing, and do not forget to enjoy the wins along the way.”

CHAY has built his profile on a sound that resists easy genre classification, Afrobeats rhythms filtered through electronic production and “Nwa Mama” extends that approach.

The single is distributed via ONErpm and is now available across streaming platforms.
