Boakye, Davies, Sedgman, others to headline Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Fest

The Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Fest 2024 is set to enchant Herne Hill, Brixton, Croydon and the virtual realm from January 30 to February 4, 2024. Now in its fifth edition, the festival promises a week filled with captivating children’s poetry, mesmerising performances and enthralling storytelling.

Headlining this year’s stellar lineup are luminaries such as Jeffrey Boakye, known for his insightful contributions to children’s literature, the acclaimed Nicola Davies, and the captivating storyteller Sam Sedgman. These distinguished figures will be joined by an array of talent, including Laura Ellen Anderson, AM Dassu, Ross Montgomery, Nikita Gill, Alex Wheatle, Katya Balen, James Catchpole, Gareth P Jones, Patrice Lawrence, Frann Preston-Gannon, and more.

The festival boasts a range of events tailored for various audiences. School events will feature daily storytime sessions by beloved authors, offering a delightful ten minutes of literary magic for little ones aged 4+. Workshops and performances by award-winning authors and illustrators will also take centre stage, captivating school children of all ages in physical and virtual settings.

For the wider public, an eight-day programme unfolds, showcasing workshops, talks and events across South East London and online. Catering to both children and adults with an interest in the world of book creation, this promises to be an engaging exploration of storytelling in all its forms.

Adding an exciting dimension, the festival introduces a competition themed “Rooted Deep, Branching Far.” Aspiring storytellers are invited to submit their creations, with the deadline set for January 6, 2024.
