AfroCannes 2024 celebrates diversity in the film industry

AfroCannes is back for its third edition, promising two days of vibrant discussions, screenings and networking opportunities. Scheduled to coincide with the Cannes Film Festival from May 16th to May 17th, 2024, AfroCannes, according to a statement, aims to celebrate and promote diversity within the film industry.

Organised by the Yanibes Foundation, AfroCannes has become a significant platform for creatives, businesses and stakeholders from across the globe to converge and explore the evolving landscape of cinema. 

This year’s event boasts an impressive lineup of speakers from various corners of the world, including renowned figures like Thibaut de Longeville, founder of 360 Communications, Simon Frederick, the director of Black is the New Black for BBC, and Lyara Oliveira, President & CEO of the Sao Paulo Film Commission, among many others.

The theme for AfroCannes 2024 reflects a diverse range of topics, from Hip Hop Culture & The Film Industry to Distribution & IP politics, showcasing the breadth and depth of issues impacting the global film landscape.

Among the highlights of this year’s event are discussions focusing on the burgeoning film industries of Brazil, the Caribbean, Kenya, and Scandinavia, with special panels dedicated to exploring the film ecosystems of South Africa and Nigeria.

Networking opportunities will be available throughout the event, offering attendees the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and forge valuable connections within the industry.

AfroCannes 2024 will take place at the prestigious Hotel Grey d’Albion in Cannes, France. Access to the event is by registration only, and attendees are required to present their registration confirmation upon arrival.

In addition to the main event, AfroCannes has announced its partnership with Deadline as the Official Media Partner.
