AfroBerlin 2024: Unveiling the future of African cinema at Berlinale

AfroBerlin 2024, a collaboration between Yanibes and the European Film Market (EFM), promises to be a milestone event during the Berlinale on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Taking place at the EFM Conference Lounge in the iconic Gropius Bau Building, a statement said this inaugural edition aims to provide a platform for key players in the African film industry.

Attendees will delve into the burgeoning African film landscape through panel discussions, strategic insights and presentations.

AfroBerlin seeks to inform production companies, distribution partners, and financiers about the marketability of content created by African, Afro-descended filmmakers and creatives from various minority backgrounds. This event not only connects creatives, businesses and stakeholders but also reinforces Africa’s presence in the global film market.

Distinguished speakers include Mariette Rissenbeek (Executive Director, Berlin Film Festival), Tyron Ricketts (Actor & Producer, Founder of Panthertainment), and Tsitsi Dangaremgba (Author, Director, Producer, and Founder of the Institute of Creatives Arts for Progress in Africa). The event’s industry sessions will run from 9 am to 6 pm and will be open to the public with free registration at www.yanibes.com/afroberlin.

Collaborative Partners for AfroBerlin 2024 include media powerhouse Deadline. The event promises a convergence of talents from various corners of the globe, exemplified by its diverse co-organisers and speakers from Germany, Italy, the USA, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and beyond.
