Mannywellz has released a new version of his single “Cry on you,” featuring fellow R&B artist Odeal. Distributed via Vydia on October 23, the record updates the original track initially featured on the Nigerian-born singer, songwriter, and producer’s seven-track EP, Small Chops, which was released in June.
Written and produced by Mannywellz, the track incorporates lyrics in English, Yoruba, and Nigerian Pidgin. The updated version combines the distinct vocal styles of both artists, offering a fresh take on the original recording.
Mannywellz stated that while he was satisfied with the original release, he felt the track had space for an additional voice. He added that Odeal’s contribution felt natural and completed the record.
The release follows Mannywellz’s latest EP, Small Chops, which featured appearances from Nigerian artists Wale and Lekan. The project was entirely written and produced by Mannywellz, exploring themes of love, vulnerability, and emotional connection, while serving as an introduction to his upcoming full-length studio album.
Mannywellz has built an international audience, recording over 100 million cumulative streams and earning a placement on the Billboard US Afrobeats Top 100 chart for his single “Ouu Ahh.” His previous work includes contributions to the Grammy Award-winning project American Dreamers: Voice of Hope, Music of Freedom, alongside collaborations with artists such as Tems, Pink Sweat$, and Eric Bellinger.
