Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has revealed that reducing his alcohol consumption and adopting a healthier diet were key factors in his recent 25-kilogram weight loss, per film-news.co.uk.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the 61-year-old star opened up about his health journey, which began when he weighed 126 kilograms.

“We normalise both drinking and wagering but we never look at the damage they cause,” Crowe told Rogan. “I’m a big proponent for having a drink. It’s my cultural heritage and, as a working-class man, it’s my goddamn right, Joe. But as you get older, there are certain things you start to learn about your capacities.”
The Gladiator actor emphasised a shift in his drinking habits, stating that one night a week of “fun” is now “plenty.”
“If I decide to have a glass of wine with dinner, it’s going to be a really nice wine,” he explained. “I try not to have casual drinks now. [I avoid] having a drink for the sake of it.”
Crowe also credited host Joe Rogan for introducing him to the health service platform Ways2Well. As part of his programme, the actor has been receiving injections and IV treatments to help manage inflammation and arthritis.
“Ways2Well was a great call for me because it’s calmed down a bunch of stuff. It’s taking a bunch of pain away so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards,” he added, noting the treatments he gets in his shoulders and knees.
Crowe is currently promoting his new historical drama, Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt, which is now showing in U.S. cinemas.
