Queen mark 50th anniversary of “A Night At The Opera” with vinyl reissue

Queen is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their iconic 1975 album, A Night At The Opera, and its legendary single, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” with a series of special vinyl reissues, reports faroutmagazine.co.uk. This commemorative release honours one of rock’s most ambitious and successful records.

The album will be reissued on crystal clear vinyl with gold labels on October 17. Following this, “Bohemian Rhapsody” will receive its own release on Halloween, available on transparent blue vinyl, a picture disc, and a limited-edition cassette.

Reflecting on the album’s creation, guitarist Brian May stated, “We truly felt like we could try anything at that point. As songwriters, we were challenging each other and competing with each other in the best possible way.”

A Night At The Opera topped the charts in five countries upon its release, and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ famously spent a record-breaking nine weeks at number one in the UK. It returned to the top spot following Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991.

Drummer Roger Taylor added that the band was at the “peak of our confidence,” describing the album as “eclectic… mad and it’s wonderful.”

Both reissues will be released worldwide via Universal, with Hollywood Records handling the distribution in the United States.
