Kokopelli Gallery is set to host a thought-provoking solo exhibition by Ronke Komos, titled “What Endures, What Fades”. The exhibition, which runs from May 11 to June 14, is set to ignite conversations about the delicate balance between continuity and change, and how customs, fashion and cultural identity evolve over time.
Through a series of vibrant, mixed-media works, Komos explores the fluidity of tradition, questioning why certain elements endure while others fade into distant recollection. Drawing from her personal archive of photographs, she revives and reimagines visual fragments of history, creating a poignant dialogue between collective memory and individual identity.
The exhibition features a range of pieces that speak to familial nostalgia, the shifting dynamics of friendship and community, and the role of fashion in shaping cultural identity. Works such as “Box TV – Apoti Fedeko Age” and “Village Christmas Age” celebrate bold self-expression across time, while “Kori-Kosun, 5&6 Age” contemplate the impact of digital connectivity on community dynamics.
Komos’s work resonates with themes of memory, presence and absence, inviting art enthusiasts to reflect on the emotional landscapes that shape identity. Rather than providing definitive answers, her pieces open a space for conversation, encouraging patrons to ponder the questions: How do we preserve traditions without stagnation? How do we adapt them without erasure? And ultimately, what truly endures, and what fades?
According to a statement, “What Endures, What Fades” is not just an exhibition, it is a space for remembrance, redefinition, and renewal.
Kokopelli Gallery, known for showcasing ingenious artists who have mastered the art of storytelling, provides the perfect setting for Komos’s thought-provoking works.
