Sharon Stone has disclosed that she was cast in the upcoming thriller sequel Another Simple Favor but was unexpectedly dropped from the project, per deadline.com. The Oscar-nominated actress shared the news in a candid Instagram post on Thursday, expressing her frustration with the situation.
“I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all LOVED it ,” Stone wrote in response to an ENews Instagram reel about the film. Her casting had not been previously reported, leaving fans speculating about the role she might have played in the sequel.
Directed by Paul Feig, Another Simple Favor reunites stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in a murder mystery set against the glamorous backdrop of the Italian Riviera. The film, which debuted at SXSW this week, follows Stephanie (Kendrick), a widowed mommy vlogger, as she navigates another twist-filled adventure involving her enigmatic friend Emily (Lively).
Stone’s removal highlights the often-unpredictable nature of filmmaking, where late-stage cuts are not uncommon. One of the most notable examples involves Adrien Brody, who was originally cast as the lead in Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line but saw his role drastically reduced to just five minutes of screen time. Reflecting on the experience, Brody told GQ earlier this year, “I looked back and thought, ‘How lucky I am that I averted acclaim and praise at that age.’”
While Stone’s post did not elaborate on the reasons behind her removal, her candid reaction has sparked conversations about the challenges actors face in an industry where roles can vanish without explanation.
Another Simple Favor is set to hit theatres on May 1, promising another dose of suspense, glamour and dark humour.
