Michael B. Jordan & Ryan Coogler reunite for 1930s-set vampire thriller ‘Sinners’

Hollywood is buzzing with excitement as Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler team up once again for “Sinners,” a period vampire thriller set in the 1930s American South, per thewrap.com. The film, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, is scheduled to hit theatres and IMAX on March 7, 2025 and has released a teaser. The brand new teaser trailer is enough to give a good idea of what to expect. And it is wild,building excitement for what is sure to be a thrilling cinematic event.

Directed and written by Coogler, the story follows twin brothers, both portrayed by Jordan, who return to their hometown in hopes of starting fresh. However, they quickly find themselves embroiled in a battle against the Ku Klux Klan, adding a tense racial dimension to the vampire lore. Set in the Jim Crow South, Sinners intertwines supernatural elements with historical racial tensions, making it a unique narrative in the vampire genre.

Alongside Michael B. Jordan, the cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo and Omar Benson Miller, with several supporting actors rounding out the ensemble. Production for the film, which had a budget of $90 million, began in April 2024 under the working title Grilled Cheese and wrapped in July 2024 in New Orleans. Some set photos of Jordan in costume were leaked during filming, heightening anticipation for the project.

The film’s score is composed by Ludwig Göransson, known for his Oscar-winning work on Black Panther and Oppenheimer. Göransson’s collaboration with Coogler continues to elevate the overall cinematic experience, promising a memorable score for Sinners.
