Flavour electrified a capacity crowd of 12,500 fans at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Sunday, August 25. The concert marked the penultimate stop on the African highlife sensation African Royalty European Summer 2024 tour, showcasing the artiste’s magnetic stage presence and genre-blending sound.
Flavour’s triumphant return to London, according to a statement, comes just a year after his previous sold-out UK tour, which required an additional London date due to overwhelming demand. This latest performance solidifies his growing international appeal and cements his status as one of Africa’s most dynamic live performers.
The African Royalty tour, named after Flavour’s latest critically acclaimed album, kicked off in France this June and will conclude in the Netherlands in early September. The album, released in December 2023, has already amassed over 200 million global streams and produced two chart-topping singles, “Big Baller” and “Her Excellency.”
Flavour, born Chinedu Okoli, has been a dominant force in African music for over a decade. His unique “afro highlife” sound fuses traditional rhythms with contemporary jazz and afrobeat influences. Since his debut album N’abania sold an astounding 10 million physical copies in Nigeria alone, Flavour has consistently pushed musical boundaries while honouring his cultural roots.
“It’s a title that speaks to me, and captures the whole essence of my music,” Flavour says of the African Royalty concept. “I feel there are positive sides to us as Africans that are not being given enough attention. There is more to us than meets the eye.”
Following the European leg, Flavour will bring the African Royalty experience to North America for a highly anticipated Canadian tour before concluding 2024 with a homecoming tour across West Africa.
