Trina, the renowned hip-hop artiste, recently showered praise on Beyoncé for her groundbreaking impact beyond the realms of pop and R&B, particularly in paving the way for the next generation of female rappers. Speaking to HipHopDX backstage at One Music Fest 2023 in Atlanta, Trina expressed admiration for Beyoncé as the “No. 1 female rapper” when she ventures into rap, emphasising her inspirational role.
Last month, Trina staunchly defended emerging female rappers like Sexyy Red and Sukihana, emphasising the importance of freedom of speech and artistic expression. Trina highlighted that these artists reflect their own experiences and struggles, encouraging listeners to exercise choice in what they consume.
Turning the spotlight back on Beyoncé, Trina shared her enthusiasm for attending the Renaissance Tour, expressing disappointment when it concluded. The tour, which Beyoncé transformed into the movie “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” achieved remarkable success, grossing over $38 million at the box office as of December 17. This feat places Beyoncé among the elite, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing concert film of all time alongside legends like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber. Notably, Beyoncé’s directorial debut with Renaissance marked a historic opening weekend, securing over $22 million and breaking a two-decade record for post-Thanksgiving weekend box office earnings.
