Call for applications 2021 | Nigerian Curator in Residence in Paris

In 2020, the Institut français du Nigéria, the Embassy of France in Nigeria and their Paris-based partner, Cité internationale des arts launched the very first French-Nigerian curatorial residency. The laureate was a Lagos-based curator, Folakunle OSHUN. He was selected to be part of the first edition of this unique 3-month program, set to hold yearly.

This 2021 spring edition of the residency will take place between mid-April and mid-July in order to allow the laureate to attend many prestigious cultural events that traditionally take place in France during this period, in all artistic fields.

This programme is designed for curators and art critics – over 18 years old – residing in Nigeria with proven professional experience in the artistic field concerned. Its objective is to support the young generation of Nigerian curators and art critics, through a 3-month residency in France that will enable them to develop a curatorial project which emphasizes the link with the French cultural scene and that can find a relevant echo in Nigeria.

The 3-month residency will take place at Cité internationale des arts, in the French capital city, and will enable the selected curator to collaborate with cultural organizations, major institutions and other artists-in-residence at the Cité, from all over the world.
