Actress Minnie Driver, 56, is recovering after a serious car crash in France that left her with a sprained neck; she posted from London wearing a neck brace, per parade.com.
Driver said in an Instagram update that the crash occurred “a few days ago” while she was travelling with a friend named Ben. She described the experience as terrifying, recounting that she and Ben “somehow walked out of it,” later clarifying they “crawled out” but survived. Driver confirmed she sustained a sprained neck and posted video and images showing her lying in bed with her dog and wearing a neck brace while recuperating.
In her post Driver thanked a van driver who stopped to help before ambulances arrived and criticised another motorist who slowed but then drove off. She credited the KIA EV2 for its 360-degree airbags, singling the feature out as a factor in their survival.
Driver reflected on the emotional aftermath, saying the crash replays in her mind and that crying has been part of her processing. She also thanked friends, family and colleagues for their support, and sent particular gratitude to her friend Ben and his family.
The British-born actress rose to prominence in the 1990s with roles in films including Circle of Friends and Grosse Pointe Blank, and earned acclaim for her performance in Good Will Hunting. More recently she has appeared in the ABC sitcom Speechless and on Netflix’s Emily in Paris. Driver has also used social media to challenge past tabloid portrayals of her appearance, writing previously about the damage caused by reductive labels.
