Will Smith tried to make up with Chris Rock, but failed – Report

One year is a long time to hold a grudge but it appears that in the matter between Chris Rock and Will Smith, it was the former and not the latter who wanted the beef to go on.

It has emerged that Will Smith tried to make amends with Chris Rock after slapping him in the face at the Oscars but to no avail.

Chris finally addressed the shocking moment in his new Netflix special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, joking: ‘The thing people wanna know … did it hurt? Hell yeah, it hurt. He played Muhammad Ali!’

The King Richard actor hit headlines around the world when he strode on stage and slapped host Chris Rock across the face live on air, after the comedian made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Minutes later, Will accepted the Oscar for best actor, openly weeping during his speech; he was later banned from the Academy for 10 years.

Chris had kept relatively quiet about the incident since it happened in March of last year, however in new Netflix special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, addressed the slap and took the time to roast both Will and Jada.

But according to reporting by Metro, now, coming up to a year since the infamous slap, a source has claimed that Will had ‘felt terrible for so long’ and has not made up with the comedian, instead turning to family for support.

The quoted source told People: ‘He’s tried unsuccessfully to make amends in the best way he could with Chris. But beyond that, family is important to him and [Will] leaned on them.’

Adding that the actor has reflected and matured, they described him as ‘better and still remorseful’ and now ‘feels that he has become a better person.’
