Victor AD has released “Only God Be My Papa,” a new single featuring Timaya.
The track centres on Victor AD’s account of growing up without a father, with God and his mother as the two constants in an otherwise precarious childhood. The song moves through those formative memories, shaped by scarcity and endurance, before arriving at a broader reflection on purpose and self-determination.
Timaya contributes a verse rooted in gratitude, giving thanks for a grace he credits with sustaining him over time. Together, the two artists build a shared argument: that faith, not circumstance, is the steadier foundation.
“This song is my story in its simplest form,” Victor AD said in a statement. “It is about trusting God when you have nothing else, and knowing He is enough.”
Victor AD came to prominence in 2018 with “Wetin We Gain,” a street anthem that established his reputation for plainspoken songwriting. The new single continues in that register; personal, spare and grounded in lived experience.
