The Venice Film Festival’s immersive section has unveiled a 10th-anniversary lineup featuring 68 projects from 26 countries, including works voiced by Margot Robbie, Andy Serkis, Omar Sy and Mark Ruffalo, alongside a David Bowie documentary, per deadline.com.
The Venice Immersive programme will present 30 projects in competition and 35 out of competition, running from September 2-12 on the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio.
Among the competition titles, Andy Serkis directs “Nevatars,” voiced by Daisy Ridley and Kathleen Turner, while Margot Robbie narrates “Galapagos: The Last Eden,” directed by Anthony Geffen. Abderrahmane Sissako’s “Artou,” voiced and co-produced by Omar Sy, also features in competition.
Mark Ruffalo voices “Solwata,” a documentary addressing climate refugees, and “Bowie: Unseen Unheard” – created from rare photographs by Bowie’s official photographer Denis O’Regan – marks the 10th anniversary of the musician’s death.
Paul Raphaël, Emmy-winning artist and co-founder of Felix & Paul Studios, will serve as jury president, joined by Iranian filmmaker Négar Motevalymeidanshah and Belgian director Kate Voet. The jury will award the Venice Immersive Grand Prize, Special Jury Prize and Achievement Prize.
The Venice Film Festival runs September 2-12.
