Malawian musician Theresa Phondo has released a new single, “No Gwede, No Shifting,” the follow-up to her 2025 EP Faith Hope Love.
Now available on streaming platforms through ONErpm, the track centres on a declaration of spiritual resolve, with Phondo addressing doubt and external pressure through the repeated phrase “no gwede,” meaning no shifting or wavering. The production is understated, built around a steady rhythm that foregrounds her vocals and the directness of the message.
“This song is my decision to stand firm, no matter what comes my way, because I know who I believe in,” Phondo said of the release.
Phondo, who blends Afro R&B with gospel, won Female Artist of the Year at the 2024 Maso Music Awards. That same year, her single “Blessings” became the most-streamed Malawian gospel song on Spotify.
