“The Exorcist” to get a brand new trilogy

A new The Exorcist trilogy is on its way. It has been confirmed that Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Productions are producing the new The Exorcist trilogy based on the original franchise, in partnership with Universal and Peacock.

While Ellen Burstyn is returning to reprise the role of Chris MacNeil, Blair is not returning as her possessed daughter Regan, reports Metro.

The 62-year-old actress tweeted: “To all my fans asking about my involvement in the new Exorcist reboot, as of now there has not been any discussions about me participating or reprising my role.

“I wish all those involved the best and I appreciate the loyalty and passion the fans have for The Exorcist and my character.”

Blair won the Golden Globe for best supporting actress and was nominated for an Oscar for her performance as Regan, a 12-year-old girl possessed by a demonic entity, in the 1973 horror classic.
