Sarah Young, acclaimed author of “Jesus Calling”, dies at 77

Sarah Young, who was an American Christian author and speaker best known for her book Jesus Calling, a devotional book written in the voice of Jesus Christ, has died at 77.

The book has so far sold over 30 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 60 languages. It has also spawned a number of sequels and spinoffs, including a television show and a podcast.

Young was born in 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was raised in a Christian household and attended a Christian college. After college, she worked as a teacher and a counselor. In 1992, she began to experience chronic pain and fatigue. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease and fibromyalgia.

While she was sick, Young began to write a devotional book. She said that she received the words for the book in a series of visions and dreams. The book was published in 2004 and became an instant bestseller.

Young’s book has been praised by some Christians for its comforting and inspiring message. However, it has also been criticised by some for its unorthodox style and its lack of biblical references.

Young remained an intensely private person throughout her life. She never gave interviews and rarely appeared in public. She died on August 31, 2023, at her home in Brentwood, Tennessee. She was 77 years old.

Among the things that made Jesus Calling a success are the book’s message of comfort and hope, which resonates with many Christians struggling with difficult circumstances.

There’s also the book’s simple and accessible style which makes it easy for readers to connect with its message and its use of the voice of Jesus Christ as well as its marketing and promotion, which was well-done.

“Jesus Calling” has had a significant impact on the Christian publishing industry. It has helped to popularise the genre of devotional literature and has inspired other authors to write similar books. The book has also helped to bring Christianity to a wider audience.

Sarah Young’s legacy is complex and contested. However, there is no doubt that she was a significant figure in the Christian publishing industry. Her book Jesus Calling has touched the lives of millions of people around the world and has helped to shape the way that many Christians understand their faith.
