December has a way of making Lagos look a little sane.
Christmas decorations are suddenly unleashed on the streets and ’round-abouts’ begin to look like fairytale habitations.
But more than all that, December is
the month where without warning everything and everyone changes.
The insane heat slowly fizzles away and in its place, the cool dust-driven harmattan makes an appearance.
People are more nicer. I swear they are. Voices take on a nice civilized timbre and shockingly there are more smiles.
Even the notorious Lagos drivers by some unspoken command begin to drive relatively better.
So the truth is that you will love Lagos, especially in December because it is unexpectedly lit.
But the most vivid change that Lagos undergoes in the month of December is the frightening horde of events that plague the entertainment ecosystem.
It is a scary combination of badly-organized events and premium unforgettable gigs that will leave you breathless.
So let’s sieve the wheat from the chaff.
Here are the must-attend events that you should definitely consider this weekend.

HERTITUDE
When their single mother suffers a debilitating heart failure, three sisters – Kesiena, Rume and Ogor – reunite one more time at Rume’s Private Night Club. Past resentments bubble to the surface as the sisters are forced to deal with their individual demons. The pressures of society’s arbitrary formulations of youth, womanhood and the performance of social media fakery, are laid bare with drama, dance, music and sass. Hertitude brims with attitudes of hard truth, controversial morality, elegance and sassy entertainment in dramatic twists and turns. It is representative of contemporary Nigerian life where new visions, new ways of thinking and a re-imagining of the country is engendered. Our play Hertitude takes the lid off the familiar ba-dum-bum of social life in the city, and, consequently reveals the challenges of being a growing youth and a woman in Nigeria and reveals a society that is at war with itself. In performance, Hertitude fills the space with color, elegance and gut-wrenching honesty; where societal and individual foibles are exposed, even as we celebrate the power of hope and redemptive beauty. Hertitude parades a youthful cast and crew of trained, professional and talented Nigerian youths.
