Legendary rock icon Rod Stewart has been forced to postpone two upcoming shows in his US tour after contracting what his team describes as a “summer strain of Covid-19,” per rte.ie. The 79-year-old singer was set to perform in Stateline, Nevada on Friday and Lincoln, California on Saturday, but these dates have now been rescheduled.
This latest health setback comes on the heels of Stewart cancelling his milestone 200th residency show in Las Vegas earlier this week due to a bout of strep throat. The singer expressed his deep disappointment at the time, stating he was “absolutely gutted” to miss the performance he had been eagerly anticipating.
Stewart’s team took to Instagram to announce the postponements, reassuring fans that new dates have already been set. The Lincoln, California show at Thunder Valley Casino will now take place on August 18, while the Stateline, Nevada concert at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys has been moved to August 20.
Despite these setbacks, Stewart’s North American tour is set to continue, with performances scheduled in Saratoga, California next week. The tour will then move to Europe for shows in Spain and Denmark in December, before returning to the US in early 2024.
This isn’t the first time Stewart has faced health challenges during his illustrious career. However, the singer has always shown resilience, bouncing back to deliver his signature high-energy performances. Fans will recall that Stewart recently announced an encore residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for spring 2024, demonstrating his enduring popularity and commitment to his craft.
