The latest movie in the “Alien” series has officially wrapped production, marking the return of the iconic xenomorphs to the silver screen after over half a decade.
According to reports, the forthcoming movie is directed by Fede Álvarez, known for his work in the horror genre with hits such as Don’t Breathe and the Evil Dead remake.
The ensemble cast includes Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced and David Jonsson.
The plot details are being kept under wraps, however, Far Out magazine writes that the new movie is poised to stand independently from the franchise’s prequel narrative that Ridley Scott established over the past decade. This, it adds, may pave the way for new audiences to become captivated by the franchise that has held its ground for more than four decades.
The last Alien iteration on the big screen was Alien: Covenant, which was also directed by Scott and sought to explain the origins of the alien race known as Engineers and their potential capability to spawn such a hostile creature.
However, despite a gripping performance by Michael Fassbender, the prequel didn’t connect with audiences as expected, and fans are eagerly awaiting a return to the franchise’s classic roots.
The new “Alien” movie is slated for a 2024 release, and the excitement continues to build among fans worldwide. The additional news of an Alien series led by Fargo/Legion creator Noah Hawley has also added to the anticipation.
