Lagos-based publisher Heart2World Publishing has launched a new literary award, the Heart2World Book Prize, aimed at identifying and publishing an exceptional poetry collection by a Nigerian writer.
The submission window for the inaugural prize opened recently and will close on August 5. Organisers confirmed that the award seeks manuscripts that focus on everyday life and universal human experiences.
The winning writer will receive a comprehensive prize package valued at N5 million, which covers 12 months of publishing and marketing support. Additionally, the winner will receive a N250,000 cash prize and entitlement to 100 per cent net royalties on their published book.
The initiative is being rolled out in collaboration with literary organisations Sprinng and Poetry Journal, who are sponsoring the prize alongside the headline publisher.
The literary prize, according to a statement, aims to amplify Nigerian voices and bring contemporary poetry to a broader pan-African and international readership. Interested writers are required to submit their manuscripts directly through the publisher’s official digital portal before the August deadline where they will also find guidelines: https://heart2worldpublishing.org/prize/.
The launch comes amid a growing renaissance in Nigerian poetry, which has seen increased digital engagement and global recognition for contemporary West African writers navigating themes of identity, culture and urban life.
