‘‘Minecraft’’ movie starring Jason Momoa gets release date

Warner Bros has announced a release date for the upcoming “Minecraft” film which will star Jason Momoa.

Set to be released on April 4, 2025, it is said to be a collaboration that no one saw coming.

Momoa was announced as part of the cast all the way back in April 2022, but today there’s still no news about the role that he will play in the upcoming film, nor about the plot of the video game adaptation.

Jared Hess, the filmmaker who made Napoleon Dynamite (2004) and Nacho Libre (2006), is attached to the project, which has apparently been in the works for a decade, as director.

Minecraft is a video game by Mojang Studios in which the world and the characters are all made of blocks. Players get to build worlds and also play characters inside those worlds, with the goal simply of creating and, if they opt for the mode, surviving. The game, which was released in November 2011, is the best-selling video game of all time, with 63 more million sales than Grand Theft Auto V, which comes in second place.
