Masego has released his third studio album, Fix Your Face, a project shaped by personal loss after his house burnt down during the Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025, per ratedrnb.com.
The 12-track album was released July 26 via EQT Recordings/Capitol Records and follows the Grammy-nominated musician’s self-titled second album from 2023. It was written in the aftermath of the fires, which destroyed his home while he was overseas.
Masego said he was forced to decide quickly what could be salvaged, asking a friend to save personal photo albums, his grandfather’s vinyl collection, instruments and cufflinks. Everything else, including plaques and Grammy certifications, was lost.
The title is drawn from a familiar maternal admonition to compose oneself under pressure, which he reframes as a mantra for resilience. That theme runs throughout the record.
The opener, “Sounds Like,” reflects on adolescent memory and his shift from basketball to music after an injury. It closes with a voicemail from his mother: “You better fix your face / I know it’s getting tough / Keep your chin up.”
On “Breathe,” he confronts grief following a death in his family while balancing career demands. Tracks “Dotted Line” and “Gone,” featuring Lekan, address the breakdown of a relationship.
The album also leans into celebration. “Hello,” featuring Buju Banton, nods to his Jamaican heritage with dancehall energy and samples Mandrill’s “Children of the Sun” via Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know.” “Wonderwoman” is built around early-2000s Neptunes-style production.
Masego enlists prominent voices from the 2000s, including Keyshia Cole on the duet “Someone” and Musiq Soulchild on “Overthinking.” The record further features collaborations with Leon Thomas on “QVC” and Maryland rapper Foggieraw on “I Know You.”
Known for blending jazz, soul and trap, Masego earned a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album for his 2020 EP Studying Abroad: Extended Stay. Fix Your Face marks his most personal release to date.
He will support the album with the Fix Your Face Tour, a 40-date run beginning Aug. 4 in Dallas, with stops across North America, Europe and the U.K. through the fall.
