Mariah Carey is marking the 25th anniversary of her Glitter soundtrack with its first-ever vinyl pressing and an expanded digital edition featuring unreleased recordings from the vault, due for release in October, per vibe.com.
The project includes limited-edition two-LP formats in “Glittering Pink” and “Midnight Purple,” available to preorder now.
Alongside the announcement, Carey released a newly reimagined version of the track “Didn’t Mean to Turn You On,” featuring Rochelle Jordan.
While the accompanying 2001 film suffered from harsh reviews and poor box office returns after opening shortly after 9/11, the soundtrack evolved into a cult classic. In 2018, a fan-led “#JusticeforGlitter” campaign successfully propelled the album to Number One on the iTunes charts.
Reflecting on the milestone, Carey noted that watching the project become a punch line after its initial release was devastating. She expressed gratitude to fans for championing the album over the years and noted that newly discovered vault recordings will arrive in October.
