Lagos Theatre Festival returns with a spectacular showcase

The long-awaited Lagos Theatre Festival is planning for a grand return this March after a hiatus of two years. The 2024 edition aims to reignite people’s passion for the performing arts in anticipation of a spectacular event in 2025, offering an immersive experience for all attendees.

Despite facing numerous challenges in recent years, the festival pledges captivating performances celebrating the diversity and richness of the arts, emphasising its dedication to cultural exploration, collaboration, and fostering relationships between Nigerian and British artists.

Lydia Idakula, the Artistic Director and a member of the Management team, reflected on the upcoming LTF 2024 Showcase, stating, “It’s been a challenging period, but one in which we’ve grown and expanded our knowledge within the sector. We remain steadfast in our mission to empower emerging and established artists, supporting them in creating impactful work with global resonance. We’re also invigorated in our pursuit of cultural exchange and international partnerships, striving to provide platforms for our producers to engage in such initiatives. The future looks promising as we aim for new heights, and we invite you to join us on this journey.”

The Lagos Theatre Festival Showcase 2024 is set to take place on March 2nd at Freedom Park Lagos, preceded by a Press Night on February 29th at the same venue. Featuring four productions—three from Nigeria and one from Ireland—the showcase aims to curate a holistic experience for both the audience and participants, leaving lasting impressions for all involved. Bukky Sanu, Festival Coordinator, expressed excitement for the return of another LTF edition after the virtual showcase in 2021.

Organised by the Lagos Theatre Festival Foundation, a non-profit organisation governed by a Board of Directors including Olasupo Shasore SAN (Chair), David Evans, Tosin Oshinowo and Bikiya Graham-Douglas as the Executive Director, LTF Showcase 2024 promises an exceptional cultural celebration. Productions include ‘Before I Let You Go’ by B/Rated Productions, ‘Creamy Body’ by Kininso Koncepts Productions, ‘Anatomy of a Woman’ by Nevan Productions from Nigeria and ‘Storyteller’ by Niall de Burca from Ireland. Save the date for this extraordinary cultural extravaganza as the Lagos Theatre Festival invites everyone to immerse themselves in the magic of Showcase 2024 like never before.
