Katy Perry explains how Justin Trudeau ‘transformed’ her life

Katy Perry has said her relationship with Canadian politician Justin Trudeau has “transformed” her, describing the romance as a source of personal renewal after what she called a “pretty tough” year following her split from Orlando Bloom, according to reporting by usmagazine.com.

The singer, 41, made the remarks during a June 17 appearance on Justin Tranter’s Unfamous podcast, saying that having “love in my life now” had changed her and helped her grow as a songwriter.

She referenced familiar sentiments about love’s power, adding that certain experiences, such as parenthood and a new relationship, reveal their significance only in time.

The pop star, who began dating Trudeau, 50, in summer 2025, said last year’s difficulties left her vulnerable to negative feelings but that she chose to confront pain and anger and learn from the experience. Perry and actor Orlando Bloom, 49, separated before she started seeing Trudeau; Perry and Bloom share a five‑year‑old daughter, Daisy Dove.

Perry said she worked on her personal boundaries and self‑respect before entering the new relationship, describing the process as “peeling myself out of all the conditioning.” She also noted a continual pattern of change in her life, using metaphors of rebirth to describe ongoing transformation.

Reports this month indicated the couple’s relationship has deepened over nearly a year together. A source told Us Weekly that Perry and Trudeau feel it is important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace. Trudeau separated from his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, in 2023; he has three children.

Perry’s public comments follow a period of increased media attention on her personal life and the high‑profile nature of her relationship with a former prime minister, underscoring public interest in how celebrities and political figures manage private relationships in the spotlight.
