Granada’s UNESCO City of Literature office has opened applications for its 2026 International Writers in Residence Programme, offering a fully-funded month-long stay in the Spanish city to authors from any country writing in any language.
The residency runs from November 2 to December 1, 2026, with travel, accommodation and full board covered for selected participants. Applications close on September 6, 2026.
The programme is open to authors regardless of nationality or language of writing, according to the organisers. Interested writers can apply through the Granada City of Literature website, https://granadaciudaddeliteratura.com/en/ with enquiries directed to the programme’s dedicated email address, talleres@granadaciudaddeliteratura.com.
Granada Writers in Residence Programme is jointly run by the Granada UNESCO City of Literature Office and the University of Granada. It forms part of the city’s wider literary and cultural offering, which includes La Madraza Centre for Contemporary Culture and the Granada 2031 European Capital of Culture initiative.
Granada has held UNESCO City of Literature status as part of the organisation’s Creative Cities Network, a designation aimed at supporting cultural and creative industries in member cities.
