Eko International Film Festival hosts World Press Conference
The world press conference of the EKO International Film festival (EKOIFF) held today at the prestigious Silvervird Galleria, Victoria island, Lagos.
The 10th Anniversary of the Film Festival which is scheduled to hold from March 10th-14th, 2020 will focus on the theme,
‘Film and global cultural diplomacy.’
In attendance at the press conference were pressmen from various media outlets around the city.
President and Founder of the Eko international film festival, Mr. Hope Opara stated at the event that the festival is a global platform prepped to boost the image of the country and foster international collaboration with indigenous film makers.
“This year’s instalment of the event will feature special workshops to train emerging film makers,” he added.
The festival Co-ordinator of communication, Mr. Sam Uche Anyamele said that there were already hundreds of submitted film entries from over 75 countries.
He highlighted the involvement of the Lagos state government and revealed that the event was already listed on the Lagos state cultural calendar, in the Lagos state tourism board schedule for 2020.
Mr. Sam Uche was quick to point out the festival objective of rewarding indigenous excellence by celebrating those who are doing remarkably well at the moment.
“We reward more indigenous film makers than any other platform,” he stated at the press conference and recounted that opportunities are open for branding and strategic partners will be announced in the first quarter of next year.
Also in attendance at the press conference were, festival cordinator, Mr Wisdom Nwankwo, Media coordinator, Eze Victor, Festival director, Mr. Chidi Nwaokabia and festival protocol officer, Slim Mmah.
The message from the co-ordinators of the 2020 Eko film festival couldn’t have been clearer; the film festival is geared towards giving an opportunity to local film professionals to compete with their international counterparts.
