Cardi B Makes Hip-Hop History As “Bodak Yellow” Hits Diamond Status

The Bronx native is the first woman rapper to certify the RIAA milestone by way of a single.

Cardi B’s breakout single, “Bodak Yellow,” has hit a new milestone. Since its debut on June 16, 2017, the J. White Did It-produced single officially reached the Recording Industry Association of America’s Diamond status yesterday (March 8). It is now 10x multi-platinum at 10 Million certified units, according to the RIAA’s official website.

The RIAA celebrated the occasion tweeting, “Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA 💎 single award! #BodakYellow @AtlanticRecords.” In the wee hours of last night, Cardi took to her own Twitter account to say that she was surprised with some exciting news that would be shared at a later time.
