Actress Cameron Diaz and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden have announced the birth of their third child, a son named Nautas, according to parade.com.
The couple, known for maintaining a high degree of family privacy, shared the news on May 4 via a creative social media post detailing the infant’s name and its nautical origins.

Madden confirmed the arrival on Instagram using a series of illustrations rather than traditional photographs. The primary image featured a ship alongside the name Nautas, derived from the Latin root for “sailor” or “navigator.” Madden defined the name as “one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown.”
The musician expressed the couple’s gratitude, stating they were “happy, excited, and feeling so blessed” to welcome their second son. He added that their children are “happy and healthy” as the family transitions to a household of five. Diaz, 53, acknowledged the post with a series of heart emojis.
Nautas joins six-year-old sister Raddix Chloe Wildflower and two-year-old brother Cardinal. The couple has consistently opted for unconventional names and remains protective of their children’s identities, rarely sharing images or personal details publicly.
Diaz has previously spoken about the rewards of later motherhood, noting in 2022 that she felt “lucky” to have the support and friendship of other mothers while raising her first child. The actress and Madden have been married since 2015.
The couple’s choice to announce the birth post-facto follows a growing trend among high-profile figures who eschew traditional pregnancy announcements in favour of protecting their children’s privacy from birth.
