Bob Marley’s classics get a modern makeover on new album “Africa Unite”

The music of Bob Marley is set to be reimagined on a new album called “Africa Unite.” 

The album, which is scheduled for release on August 4, 2023, will feature collaborations between Marley’s classics and a stellar lineup of contemporary African musicians.

According to UDiscover Music, the album is the brainchild of Universal Music Africa, which partnered with Marley’s estate to create a project that would celebrate the reggae icon’s legacy and his deep connection to Africa. 

“Bob Marley was a true global ambassador for reggae music, and his music has had a profound impact on people all over the world,” said Sipho Dlamini, CEO of Universal Music Africa. “This album is a way of paying tribute to his legacy and continuing his message of peace, love, and unity.”

The album features 14 tracks, all of which have been reimagined by some of Africa’s biggest artistes. Some of the featured artistes include Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Yemi Alade. The tracks have been given a fresh Afrobeats makeover, while still retaining the essence of Marley’s original recordings.

The album, a unique and innovative project that brings together two of the most popular genres of music in the world, is sure to be a hit with fans of both Marley and Afrobeats. What is more, it is also a timely release, as it comes at a time when there is a renewed focus on Africa and its culture.

“Africa Unite” is a powerful and moving album that is sure to inspire and uplift listeners. It is a tribute to Bob Marley’s legacy and his message of peace, love, and unity. It is also a celebration of the vibrant music of Africa.
