Black Spring Press, an independent publisher of literary fiction, poetry and non-fiction, has announced the launch of a new crime series curated by Luca Veste, a bestselling author of crime and thriller novels.
The series, called the Black Spring Crime Series, aims to showcase new and diverse voices in the genre, and to offer them a platform to reach a wider audience.
The series will feature 10 novels over the next 10 months, starting from June 2023. The first novel is A Crime in the Land of 7,000 Islands by Zephaniah Sole, a serving FBI agent who writes under a pseudonym. The novel is a fast-paced thriller set in the Philippines, where a US diplomat is murdered and a local journalist is framed for the crime. The second novel is The Scotsman by Rob McClure, a former police officer who now works as a private investigator. The novel is a dark and gritty mystery set in Glasgow, where a serial killer is targeting homeless people.
The series has received glowing endorsements from some of the biggest names in crime fiction, such as Lee Child, Ian Rankin, Val McDermid and Mark Billingham. They have praised Veste’s talent and vision as a curator and editor, and have expressed their excitement and support for the new imprint. The series has also been praised by critics and reviewers, who have highlighted the quality and originality of the novels.
